Evapostop Floating Discs Technology

Technology Description

The discs are optimally molded according to a special patented process. They have a uniquely designed geometry thus ensuring that the discs seek to maximise the surface coverage of the fiquid at all times. The overlapping collars automatically seal to ensure a tight vapor seal and effective mass transfer barrier, The weight of the discs is determined such that the vapor space between the overlapping disc edges and the liquid surface yields a high reduction in evaporation. The discs cover 99.6% of the surface of the iquid – one square meter of surface requires approximately 40 discs.

The overlapping collars in the vapor space form an effective vapor seal. Their stable center of gravity ensures that no liquid will be present on top of the overlapping collars. This maximises the mass transfer barrier and minimizes the surface area of liquid that can vaporize.

EVAPOSTOP discs are made in a variety of metals, depending on the application in which they will be used: austentic stainless steel (316SS) or magnetic stainless steel (3045S, 310SS, 3CR12). Their unique design ensures that they are non-static and spark proof as well as being maintenance free, non-corrosive and non-ageing. The discs are also not affected by instrument probes and other devices that protrude beyond the inside of the tank shell.
